Today we wrote a memorial. A memorial is when you want to remember someone. Mom says a memorial can be for a special person we don't know. We didn't know Mr. Marino. He was special. We decided to name our tree fort after him. We are going to decorate it on Sunday just for him.

Ben and Noah; your idea of naming your tree fort after Mr. Marino so "he will always be outside with the deer" was a great one. It made me cry, but it was a great idea! (You may want to ask your Mom why someone would cry reading about a good idea - I'm not sure I can explain that here.) Thanks, guys. I didn't know Mr. Marino, but I'm very sure he'd appreciate what you've done for him. Reply to this

I cried, too. Your idea is such a beautiful way to make sure that this special person, Mr. Lester Vincent Marino, a victim on 9/11/2001, will always be remembered. I'm sure he would be very happy to have such a wonderful treehouse named for him. It's a very loving thing to do, and a way to make sure we don't forget. Reply to this

ben & noah, your tribute for Mr. Marino is so wonderful. i imagine he would be quite honoured to know that two fine young men will be growing up and having a lot of fun childhood memories, while remember someone special who loved the outdoors. i love your blog, and i hope to get something from your store. i have nephews who are close to your ages, buit they are far from me. thanks for sharing your photos and drawing. you brought tears to my eyes, but its a good thing, when people care enough to do something right, like make a memorial for those who died on 9/11/01. I like your treehouse very much. It was so good of you to remember Mr. Marino in this special way. Your drawings are wonderful. I especially like the angel in your picture of the Twin Towers. I like to think angels caught people as they fell that day. I hope you will show us pictures of your treehouse after you have decorated it. Mr. Marino is very lucky to have nice new friends like you remembering him. Because you remembered him today, now, so do I. Thank you.

We wanted to add everyone who has linked to the boys site from here there and everywhere. We will be creating a sidebar link under the 2,996 link where everyone's websites will be. We had a family meeting and decided that their blogroll on the side will be for all their "kid" friends and the link will be for all their new "adult" friends. We have been so touched that so many people have commented on what they boys have done. And, we want everyone to get the chance to see all the other amazing tributes to our fallen heroes of September 11, 2001.
